Kate Broddick, Salesperson with Sutton Realty in Brantford
Kate and her husband (Ayr Chiropractor, Ryan Broddick) switched from a Big 5 bank two years ago. They were not happy with the service they were receiving, so they decided it was time to make a change. Since their businesses are built on providing excellent customer service, they specifically looked for a financial institution that shares the same values. After doing their research, they felt it made sense to bank at a credit union.

Kate recounts that they had an outstanding experience with Anthony DePasquale, their Assistant Branch Manager at YNCU. Anthony was able to personalize their business accounts to their satisfaction. In addition, Kate is constantly impressed with the level of personal service she receives. Often a phone call is all it takes to initiate important transactions, a factor that is critical to keep her business running smoothly.
Kate appreciates that she is able to do most of her business banking online, including HST filing and payroll deductions. At the same time, she loves the friendly reception she receives when she visits the branch – the staff know her name and always remember to ask about her family! It’s all about being part of the Neighbourhood!
Anne Laird and John Cheyne – Book Express
Anne and John have owned and operated Book Express in Cambridge, Ontario for the past 29 years. They became credit union members 27 years ago. When Anne and John heard that YNCU would be offering business services, their interest was piqued. At the time they had business accounts at 2 banks in order to take advantage of best pricing on cash and online services. They were thrilled to learn that YNCU was able to offer the same services as both banks, at less than half the price!

Anne states that “staff are friendly, they are helpful, and they know who you are. You can go to the member representative for help; you don’t necessarily have to make an appointment beforehand.” Anne also notes that the process of moving their accounts to a new financial institution was smooth. A representative from YNCU came to Book Express to provide service, and they were able to get a customized account to provide for their specific needs.
Anne and John especially value the simplicity of working with YNCU. All the services they require are available at one financial institution, at a reasonable price. Anne said: “I’ve been at the credit union for a long time. It’s great that they are getting larger, with more branches, because now they can provide more services – in particular, business services.”
“YNCU put together a package for me to look at, and it was extremely good financially”
“YNCU was able to do what both banks did at less than half the price”
Denise Luciani – Owner of Marlin Travel, Brantford and Kitchener
Denise has been a long-time credit union member, first joining Brant Community Credit Union (now YNCU) as a teenager. She remembers opening her first chequing account there, and eventually taking out her very first mortgage.
After a successful 17 years as an employee of Marlin Travel in Brantford, Denise took ownership of the franchise in 2012. One of her first initiatives was to move the Marlin Travel business account to Your Neighbourhood Credit Union. She notes that, with guidance from her YNCU business account manager, the move was seamless. In fact, she expected it to be much more difficult, and was surprised by how easy it turned out to be.

Rob & Gwen - Groves Electric Inc.
“My wife and I are appreciative of our partnership with YNCU over these past 15 years. With their professional and caring assistance we have built a very successful electrical contracting business that is now debt free. Our journey went like this:

In 1998, after a 20 year career with Westinghouse Canada, like many, I was displaced as a high ranking executive due to divestiture of corporate businesses by our parent US company. I was so devastated I vowed never to be an employee again so went about starting our own business.
After 30 years of banking at one of the big 5 banks, we were turned down for a start up line of credit due to debt to equity ratio. We then went to the Brantford Credit Union and based on our merit and obvious ability to succeed, we were granted enough to get started.
I was so impressed by the credit union system, I served 6 years on the Board of Directors as the Brant Community Credit Union grew into its present status as Your Neighbourhood Credit Union.
Our business has grown to 12 employees and we are now building our dream home in cottage country thanks again to the Credit Union's financial assistance.”
“I love the convenience and simplicity of conducting our business online. I also love dealing with a credit union because they haven't lost their personal touch – they really care about us as people and as members.
