Assistant Branch Manager - FP Mall

  • This position will have the home branch of Fairview Park Mall but will require the successful candidate to be flexible in terms of hours of work and work locations (Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph regions).

Position Summary:

The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for the net growth of their loan, deposit and investment portfolio through internal channels, member referrals and business development opportunities. Responsibilities include coaching, scheduling & training of team members, supervising branch staff, providing excellent & respectful member service, planning activities to ensure accomplishment of annual goals, administer branch audit & operational functions. Ensure close contact with Branch Manager to maintain branch functionality.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for member Deposit/Investment Services and Lending/Collections within established policies
  • Maintenance and furtherance of courteous and service excellence to the Member
  • Performance of all required Internal Audit functions
  • Sale of YNCU products and services to members according to Productivity Guidelines set out, to help branch achieve its annual growth and revenue goals.
  • Responsible for maintaining a member contact strategy to ensure timely follow up and sale of YNCU products and services.
  • Develop new sources of business by participating in an ongoing call/contact program and/or involvement in an approved networking organization.
  • Assist Branch Manager in planning, organizing and supervising branch team and workflow.
  • Scheduling and training of team members.
  • Supervises branch staff, organizes employees and assigns routine duties. Hiring, terminating and promotions are recommended or made in consultation with the Branch Manager
  • Assist in coordinating the branch operations within all policies and procedures to ensure satisfactory audits and proper safe guards.
  • Full participation and willing cooperation as a member of the Credit Union’s management team
  • Effective use of Productivity Guidelines and member contact program to achieve growth and revenue goals.
  • Provide advice and assistance to members by providing YNCU products and services to fit their needs and offer solutions.
  • Act with urgency on all member opportunities – whether self sourced or a lead/referral from another member of the branch team.
  • Assist and contribute ideas to help branch leadership team develop plans for achieving branch objectives/goals.
  • Provide excellent and respectful member service.
  • Adapt goals and plans according to branch and YNCU needs.
  • Plan daily/weekly/monthly/yearly activities to ensure accomplishment of annual goals.
  • Support creative and innovative thinking by working closely with all YNCU teams.
  • Supervise and/or attend to the accurate and timely preparation of all reports.
  • Maintain close contact with Branch Manager, ensuring they are informed of any important information regarding the operation of the branch.
  • Assist with the administration of the credit union’s credit policies ensuring all loans or credit applications are effectively evaluated, clearly documented, adequately secured and that required collection and control procedures are employed.
  • Ensure all policies respecting cash custody, internal audit and control and the maintenance, safeguarding and security of premises and lock-up procedures, are clearly understood and adhered to.
  • Assist with the implementation of all business promotion campaigns and assist with monitoring results of same.
  • Supervise and ensure adherence to all of the Credit Union’s policies and procedures
  • Ensure any reports or requests are acted upon or distributed to the member of the team that will be completing.
  • Plan for work accordingly so that deadlines are met.
  • Contribute to an environment of enthusiasm and courteous, efficient member service.
  • Communicate effectively, respectfully and actively exchange ideas.
  • Share honest and clear feedback regarding strengths and areas for improvement.  This may be with peers or other members of the team.
  • Identify high potential team members to encourage excellence and inspire them to succeed.
  • Through coaching, encourage and demonstrate positive work attitude and achievement of goals.
  • Give recommendations to branch manager on any personnel issues, whether coaching, reviews, excellence or potential problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be assertive and enthusiastic and have a resilient character. 
  • Must be able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
  • Understanding of and ability to influence people through supervision and training.
  • Must be a team player who understands the dynamics of team operation and team strategies. 
  • Understanding of management behavior, the “chain-of-command” and an ability to ensure conduct appropriate to a corporate environment. 
  • Must be able to assume duties as Branch Manager as required

  • Act as an Ambassador of YNCU within the local community and build strong relationship with business partners
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
