Privacy with YNCU
Your personal and financial information is part of your trust in YNCU. This page explains how we collect, use, protect, and manage your information when you bank with us, apply for a product, use online banking, visit a branch, or contact our team.

Security and safe online banking
YNCU uses secure online banking safeguards to help protect information as it moves between your device and our systems, including encrypted connections, controlled access through your Member ID and Personal Access Code, and automatic session time-outs after a period of inactivity. Your Personal Access Code belongs to you, so choose one that is hard to guess, avoid saving it in your browser, do not reuse it on other sites, and never share it with anyone. YNCU employees will never ask for your online banking credentials by email, text, phone, or any unexpected message.
To help protect your account, review your statements regularly, keep your mailing address and contact information up to date, and always use the logout button when you finish online banking. If you use a shared device, clear your browser history and cache afterward. Private browsing can reduce what is saved on a device, but it does not make you anonymous or protect you from every online risk.
How we use information online
When you use online banking, transactions such as transfers and bill payments are logged so your accounts can be updated properly, your account history can be verified, and services can be billed or supported when needed. When you complete secure online forms for products or services, we use the information you provide to process your request in the same way we would handle information shared through other service channels. YNCU may also collect website usage information, such as browser type, operating system, pages visited, time spent on the site, and IP address, to understand how the website is used and where it can improve.
Cookies may be used to support secure online banking sessions, remember optional preferences, gather website statistics, or support marketing and site improvements. Session cookies help keep your online banking session separate and secure, while persistent cookies may support features like memorized accounts or preferences. YNCU does not store your Personal Access Code in a cookie, and using the logout button helps end your session properly.
Safe communication and external links
General email is not a secure way to send personal financial information. If you need to send account numbers, instructions, or sensitive details, use a secure YNCU contact method instead. When you email us, we use your email address to respond and may keep your message and our replies if we need to continue the conversation.
YNCU may link to other websites or online resources, including sites that are connected to YNCU services or business relationships. Once you leave our website, those sites may have their own privacy practices, so it is a good idea to review their privacy information before sharing personal details.
Our privacy code
YNCU follows the Credit Union Code for the Protection of Personal Information, which sets standards for how personal information is collected, used, shared, protected, kept, and made available when you have questions. This includes accountability through a designated Privacy Officer, identifying why information is collected, getting consent where required, limiting collection and use, keeping information accurate, using safeguards, being open about privacy practices, giving individuals access to ask about their information, and allowing people to challenge compliance.
If you have questions or concerns about privacy at YNCU, you can contact us online or write to our Privacy Officer - 38 Executive Place, Kitchener, Ontario, N2P 2N4. YNCU may update this privacy page as services, technology, legal requirements, or privacy practices change.
