"Heartbleed security bug"
YNCU is aware of the internet security flaw commonly reported as the “Heartbleed security bug” that affects web servers using OpenSSL.
YNCU web servers DO NOT use OpenSSL. YNCU systems are not affected by this security flaw. This means that the Heartbleed bug does not pose any threat to the YNCU online banking platforms.
The “Heartbleed security bug” takes advantage of a software defect that allows hackers to access web-encrypted sites and potentially access users’ personal information such as bank account numbers and passwords. At no time was any YNCU Member information at risk as a result of the “Heartbleed security bug”.
We always recommend that our Members take reasonable, ongoing precautions to protect their sensitive information in their banking and email accounts, and we generally recommend changing passwords regularly.
